Bank’s tough road ahead

AS the euphoria of saving the Westpac Sea Lake agency from closure begins to
subside, the attention now turns to keeping the store going indefinitely.

Westpac’s Sea Lake branch manager Keva Lloyd said the community could assist by making deposits or doing insurance transactions
in-store.

“Because the community have voted so strongly to retain the branch, it now requires them to utilise the services we have offered here,” he said.

“Rather than doing services elsewhere, rather than using the internet, rather than using EFTPOS or using non-bank ATMs that are in the town.

“If people want the branch to continue they have to use it and keep on using it, so don’t just pop in — it’s not like donating to a needy cause.

“It will be the ongoing day-to- day maintaining of services that will keep us alive.”
