IF you hear a knock on your door this week, there is a chance it will be local football enthusiast Kelvin “Licky” Worner.
Mr Worner is one of 36 volunteers taking to the streets of Swan Hill for this year’s Heart Foundation’s doorknock appeal.
The Tyntynder Football Club life member started knocking on people’s doors in the name of charity when his wife passed away seven years ago.
“I just sort of kept it going, there are lovely people around the area so I thought I’d keep collecting money from them,” he laughed.
“The only thing is this year it’s right in middle of the football finals.”
Trying to find time to collect money around football games isn’t too hard though, and the bus driver said he was happy to be doing his little bit for the community.
“They’re never going to get anything done unless they’ve got donations,” Mr Worner said.
“It’s just one of those things you do.”
The Heart Foundation’s annual doorknock appeal runs from September 1 to 16, and all funds raised during the appeal go towards research in the fight against heart disease, the number one killer of Australian men and women.
