Spring into school holidays

SCHOOL’s out for the next two weeks and holiday activities are getting into full
swing in Swan Hill, from ravioli lessons to jazz band concerts.

For those
seeking a bit of adventure, Victoria’s highest rock climbing wall will be down
at the Pioneer Settlement this weekend for both the young and young-at-heart to
tackle.

Visitors to the Settlement throughout the holidays will also have
the chance to be entertained by the Telopea Park Jazz Band, Jaserfold the
Magician, Pioneers Petting Park & Farm Nursery, and the Flying Fruit Fly
Circus, who will host circus workshops and performances in the second week of
the break.

Pioneer Settlement customer services information manager Alistair
Martin said he was hoping the Pioneer Settlement’s large program during the
spring holidays would draw equally large crowds.

“I spent a bit of money —
I’d like people to enjoy Swan Hill over the spring break,” he said.

“It’s a
great stage for Swan Hill to put its best foot forward.”

YouthInc and Swan
Hill District Health have banded together and will offer free Italian cooking
classes daily from Tuesday September 25 to Friday September 28 at the YouthInc
headquarters — free for people aged 12-25.

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery
director Ian Tully said the introduction to printmaking course, which will be
run at the gallery next week, was aimed at older students in an attempt to get
more local youth involved in artistic pursuits.

Workshops on ‘how to draw
faces’ will be running for primary school kids this week.

Storytime and baby
rhyme time sessions will be held at the regional library, and the Swan Hill
Rural City Council will also run its vacation care program at the Swan Hill
Primary School across the next two weeks, open to all children aged 5-12.

Registration packs and booking forms are available from Council offices or
the after school program.

September school holiday activities will run until
October 7.
