Students build a better education

IT is often said that a student’s future is built inside the classroom, but at Swan Hill College, some students are busy building those future classrooms.

Under the co-ordination of teacher Corey Frost, students from a range of year levels have set about designing, constructing and maintaining various buildings and sites around the school.

In addition to a number of smaller projects like tables and chairs, students have built playgrounds, gardens and even classrooms, all from the ground up.

“I’m a builder by trade,” Mr Frost said.

“So I’ve been able to use those skills and experience.”

While different classes have taken on projects that require varying levels of skill, Mr Frost said the projects were unified by their common purpose: to be used by current and future students.

“The school has been super supportive of the projects because they know there are positive effects for the students and the school,” he said.
