LOCAL government candidate Jim Crowe believes Swan Hill Rural City Council and
the much-discussed replacement bridge have something in common — they both could
do with a new direction.
Born in Tyntynder Flats, Mr Crowe began milking cows
at 15 and spent 17 years in the dairy industry.
Since then he said he worked
part time at a local engineering firm and was a key instigator in building the
Swan Hill Grain Storage at Murray Downs.
He ran a school bus run for 15 years
and operated earthmoving equipment on roads, sewers and drainage.
His
knowledge of infrastructure led him to build the sewer line under the Murray
River and assist in time of flooding.
“I believe I know more about floodwater
than anyone in this area,” Mr Crowe said.
Now the 69-year-old Murray Downs
resident has nominated for the Central Ward (a residential property in Swan Hill
allows him to run for the ward) in upcoming general elections for Swan Hill
Rural City Council.
