Salathiel steps up

WHETHER or not she achieves a seat on council, Donna Salathiel was clear that
her passion and focus will remain on the Swan Hill community.

“I’ve been
involved with community long before I nominated in the election and I will be
long after — regardless of the outcome,” she said.

Having spent many years
co-ordinating community health programs, the Swan Hill local said she felt now
was the time to take her level of community engagement up a notch.

“I really
believe that it would be an ideal situation for me to be working closely with
the community, to have me responding to their needs and for me to have
significant input into the decision making process,” she said.

Coming to this
conclusion following her participation in the Loddon Murray Community Leadership
Program, Ms Salathiel said she was well-equipped to handle the requirements of
being a councillor.

“That leadership program really does build confidence and
inspiration to stand up for your community.

“One of our trips away was to
parliament so after that I became particularly interested in how local
government runs.”
