SWAN Hill Police Sergeant Les McPhee hopes standing by his convictions will
bring a second term as Lakes Ward representative.
First elected in 2008
unopposed, Cr McPhee will this year face a tougher task, running against three
other candidates in the southern tip of the shire.
The police officer chose
to move to Lake Boga 25 years ago with his young family and brought up two
children.
Since then he has been involved in many local sporting clubs, been
president of his children’s school council as well as taking part in the
Community Road Safety Group’s local educational events.
He initially put his
hand up for council three years ago because he thought he could do a better job,
and his reasons have changed little.
“I’ve found council very rewarding, at
times very demanding, but I think I have a lot to give to the
municipality.
“I’m very strong in my conviction, not swayed by other
councillors.
“I stand up for issues, and ask hard questions of officers.”
