Vehicle incidents investigated

POLICE have appealed for assistance after two vehicles were stolen and set on fire in separate incidents last weekend.

The first vehicle was stolen from Mortoo Street in Swan Hill late Friday evening, and was located on fire at Apex Park behind Weaver Drive at 1.20am on Saturday.

Police were notified of the second vehicle, stolen from Stradbroke Avenue, when they were called to a suspicious vehicle on fire at the Swan Hill football ground around the same time as the first incident was reported.

Attending officers said it appeared the offenders had been doing burnouts on the grassed area at the football ground.

Police said there was no evidence to suggest the incidents were connected other than circumstantial similarities.

Meanwhile a set of number plates was stolen from a vehicle parked in Gray Street between Thursday night and Saturday night.

Between 2.30am and 8am on Sunday morning, a rear window was smashed on a vehicle parked at Bromley Road.

Nothing was taken from inside the vehicle.

Swan Hill Police Inspector Jamie Templeton has appealed for anyone with information on any of the incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
