Mayor takes legal action

MAYOR John Katis has taken legal action against Robinvale Ward election challenger Tim Williams, asking the courts to grant an intervention order for alleged intimidatory behaviour.

In a statement, Mr Williams “completely rejected” the allegations made by Cr Katis, saying the reasons behind the intervention order application were “ridiculous and completely without merit”.

“I will be getting legal advice with the intention of seeking justice in the courts,” he wrote.

An interim intervention order is currently in place. Both the Robinvale Ward candidates attended Wednesday night’s council election forum, with the conditions of the order allowing the candidates to attend and take part in the discussion, provided distance was maintained.
