WINDOWS into the environmental issues and the concerns of
children around the world is set to form part of Swan Hill’s Youth Leading the
World forum next week.
As part of the three-day event, the municipality’s
youth will connect with other young people across the globe to discuss both
local and international sustainability issues.
The forum’s lead facilitator
Chris Rowlands said the global component of the event provided a unique
opportunity for locals.
“We will link up through Facebook and Skype and it’s pretty cool to know there
are kids across the world doing the exact same programs as us,” he said.”
In
the past we’ve voiced concerns about the drought, whereas in India it is just
simple things like access to clean water.
The youth leadership forum
is an initiative of non-for-profit Australia-based organisation OzGREEN, which
aims to educate and inspire youth around the world to take action on
sustainability issues in their local communities.
