Last-minute lifeline

DAY two of term one 2013 could be ‘day one’ of a new learning
experience for up to 34 students who are disengaged from mainstream education.

As of next year, the former Payika site will become a campus of Swan Hill
College, which will see students from two alternative learning programs
amalgamate to become a new flexible learning centre.

Both Payika College and
Swan Hill College received verbal confirmation yesterday that the proposal,
submitted by the Flexible Learning Options (FLO) steering committee, had been
approved by the Department of Education.

Written confirmation is expected
from Education Minister Martin Dixon next week.
