Realising an ambition

THIS year’s VicSuper Murray Marathon will be a “tick off the
bucket list” for Swan Hill duo Sam Uebergang and Salli Wood.

The five-day
marathon event, which runs from Yarrawonga to Swan Hill, got underway yesterday
with about 500 participants taking to the water to compete in the full marathon,
half marathon, or relay events.

Ms Uebergang and Ms Wood paddled in a double
kayak yesterday to complete the first stretch of their half-marathon journey,
which will see them paddle a total of 202 kilometres.

Today they will cover
46km in the second leg of their journey, ending at Picnic Point, NSW this
afternoon.

Sam’s husband Daniel, who owns a farm between Swan Hill and
Moulamein, is paddling the full 404km distance solo in a touring kayak.
