Police arrest man in relation to SA murder

DETECTIVES arrested a man in Robinvale on Wednesday night in relation to the alleged murder of a 23-year-old man Navarone Hutchins from Keith in South Australia.

Late last night Victorian detectives, acting on information from South Australian police, arrested a 20-year-old man, also from Keith, who is now being held in Mildura.

South Australian Police major crime detectives reportedly plan to travel to Mildura to seek the man’s extradition.

After Mr Hutchins was reported missing on the weekend, information was received from members of the public, prompting police to conduct a search on Tuesday along Emu Flat Road, about five kilometres from Keith.

A man’s body was discovered in the area with severe head injuries.

While the dead man has not yet been formally identified through post mortem, police believe it to be Mr Hutchins.

The investigation is continuing and major crime detectives will remain in Keith today to interview friends and associates of Mr Hutchins in a bid to piece together the circumstances surrounding his murder.

Major crime staff and local police are providing ongoing support to Mr Hutchins’ family.

With the investigation ongoing, police have urged anyone who has information and has not yet made contact with Detectives to do so as soon as possible by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SA police has thanked members of Victoria Police for their assistance.
