SWAN Hill’s people and places have emerged as stars of an
advertisement celebrating an ‘Australian beer’ brewed, bottled and beloved — in
the United Kingdom.
In December last year about 100 locals were recruited as
extras for the ad, filmed at the Pioneer Settlement and set in the
1800s.
Despite putting on its best display of old-time Australia, the popular
tourism attraction still needed a digital makeover to suit the production, so a
town hall was digitally added to recreate “Melbourne, 1888”.
The 60 second
film sees the ‘Mayor of Melbourne’ sampling a new amber fluid (which shan’t be
named) from brothers William and Ralph Foster.
Upon slaking his thirst, the
mayor praises it with the words, “You little ripper”.
As hundreds of
‘Melburnians’ rejoice, a not-so-Aussie disclaimer appears — “Brewed in the
UK”.
