Swan Hill bridge poll: still divided

SWAN Hill region residents are still divided over the 9a bridge option,
according to a survey from The Guardian.

Exactly half of 100 people
polled on both sides of the Murray River said they were against the low-level
lift-span bridge.

Across both states, about three out of ten people were
supportive, while almost one in five said they didn’t care about the
issue.

Opposition to 9a was stronger south of the border, with more than
three times the amount of objectors in Victoria than supporters. Top of the
list of concerns was that the bridge would intersect Riverside Park and the
swimming pool, despite assurances that these facilities would be replaced elsewhere in town as part of the 9a proposal, as well as bringing heavy
traffic into Curlewis Street.
