Juniors’ hot conditions

JUNIOR tennis continued at Swan Hill on Saturday in hot and humid conditions.

This proved to be one of the toughest mornings for the juniors to get through, with many hot and tired young players at the end of the day.

Team Federer’s Jack Delmenico, Brayden Young, Lachlan Warburton and Breanna Warne were the best players this week after having successful mornings winning all their sets.

Braden Young had the strongest singles win of the morning, winning 6-1.

Others to do well were Oscar Lewis, and Virginia Gleeson.

Many singles wins were decided in tiebreakers.

There were four tiebreakers in the singles indicating good competition among the Federer players.

Brayden Young and Rory Sheldrick played a strong consistent game to win their doubles 6-0, while Oscar Lewis and Virginia Gleeson had a convincing 6-1 doubles win.

Many other doubles games were close and exciting, with some long rallies and some great volleying.

In the Wozniacki section the best players were Chloe Taylor, Natalie White and Ella Stacey, who won their three sets.

Greta Sheldrick and Abby Morrison had a tight tussle, finishing even for the day.

Greta had the upper hand in the singles winning 6/3.

Team Stosur’s group welcomed Sophie Brumby this week.

Although she came away with a minus score, Sophie played some lovely shots and come away with a win in one doubles match with Alana Bookham, against Hannah Everitt and Maddy White, with a score of 6-3.

The weather did not deter the girls today, with all players continuing to encourage each other and try their best.
