North Park for sale

NORTH Park could be sold by the end of the year and developed
soon after, with real estate agents calling for expressions of interest from
potential developers.

The State Government is set to part with the 1.66
hectare property after an independent planning panel suggested the land be
stripped of its recreational land status and rezoned as Business 1 last
year.

As part of the panel’s recommendations, it was noted that the site
should not be limited to a major anchor retailer.

However, a Business 1
rezoning opens the land up to a wide range of uses, including retail,
entertainment, restaurants, offices and light industrial
developments.

Yesterday Gross Waddell, in conjunction with local real estate
agent LJ Hooker, began marketing the site.

They called for expressions of
interest, noting potential developments could include retail, commercial, bulky
goods or subdivision with three street frontages a major selling point.

LJ
Hooker Swan Hill principal John Monahan said a number of parties had already
indicated an interest in the land.
