Police appeal for information on Balranald thefts

BALRANALD police have appealed to the public for information regarding a spate of thefts in the local area. 

Cash, Coca-Cola and firearms are among the missing items.

According to police, an unknown number of offenders broke in to St Joseph’s Primary School and stole items including cash and a school camera during the weekend commencing March 15.

The following week, between March 19 and 20, cash and Coca-Cola was stolen from the Balranald Tyre Service and Balranald Diesel Service. 

Then, on March 23, police discovered a man attempting to break into St Joseph’s Primary School. 

The offender was carrying a torch and was attempting to force entry into the building via to a rear door, eventually damaging the door. 

After sighting police, the man fled from the scene. 

Finally, between Sunday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 26, police said an unknown number of offenders broke into a Balranald residence and stole coins and a cask of wine. 

The offender/s then entered the garage, forced open a gun safe, and stole four firearms and ammunition.

Police said any information they received from the public in relation to any of the thefts would be treated as highly confidential.
