SES expands its crisis capabilities

SWAN Hill SES has increased its capacity for crisis operations, with unit
members picking up certificates in boating operations, rooftop safety and
management.

Unit Members Michelle Singleton, Shane Savage and Anthony
VanHeumen successfully completed Floodboat Crew Person Assessments conducted
over four days.

Meanwhile, controller Robert Merrett completed the Crew
Leader accreditation and members Shane Savage and Tony Morgan completed Rooftop
Safety certificates.

Deputy Controller Julie Jochs said the members spend
months training for their Floodboat Crew assessments, which provided them with a
range of skills.

“Boat handling, knowing your knots, rules and regulations on
the lake and rivers, navigation, both day and night, to be able to recover
things out of the lake or river,” Ms Jochs said.
