Chugging along: support revs up for tractor event

THE Woorinen community has thrown their support behind the Mallee Steam Oil and
Machinery Club following their annual rally earlier this month.

Despite
receiving backlash from one unhappy resident who claimed the event was too loud,
the club has been inundated with support in recent days.

This follows on from
a big turnout at Wednesday’s Woorinen Progress Association meeting, with the
community turning out in force to show their support for the group and the work
they have achieved within the local community.

Despite the complaint, it’s
business as usual for the machinery club who have dubbed the annual event a
resounding success.

“It was a very successful rally and well attended,” club
president John Nix said, noting the club had record spectators at its Swan Hill
street procession.

“The event drew strong support from the Woorinen community
and Progress Association.”

The club has called Woorinen South its home for a
number of years now, having previously been based in Reedy Lake, near Kerang and
at the Pioneer Settlement.

“We had an opportunity to take over the old scout
hall around six years ago and have been here ever since,” Mr Nix said.

With
more than 100 members on their books, club members share an interest in
restoring and preserving the history of machinery.
