Birds of a feather

IN WHAT appeared to be a good omen for Lalbert-based football club Mallee Eagles ahead of their clash with Woorinen last Saturday, up to 50 birds-of-prey were spotted congregating on a single block of land on the outskirts of Swan Hill late last week.

The Guardian’s bird-loving friends believe the birdraptors to be black kites, also known as fork tail kites, which are abudant in the local area.

Despite the omen, the Eagles of the footballing variety went down to Woorinen by 10 points.
