Lights out: power outage again in New South Wales

AROUND 1400 southern New South Wales residents were without power on Sunday
night following a fault.

Essential Energy crews worked throughout the night,
responding to the unplanned outage which occurred around 9.30pm on
Sunday.

Essential Energy far west regional general manager Guy Chick said
power was restored to customers around 6.15am on Monday.

“The cause of the
interruption was found to be a broken crossarm which also brought down and broke
the conductor about 40kms from Deniliquin,” Mr Chick said.

The outage
affected residents in Moulamein, Koraleigh, Tooleybuc and Murray Downs.

“We
do appreciate that this outage would have been an inconvenience to customers,
however crews did set about repairs as quickly and safely as
possible.”

Meanwhile, with aerial spraying activities taking part throughout
NSW, Mr Chick is urging property owners and pilots to be aware of the potential
danger of overhead powerlines.

“Anyone engaging in activities such as aerial
application, mustering, property or powerline inspections needs to remember that
the smallest contact between a plane and powerlines can be fatal,” Mr Chick
said.
