MANANGATANG’S Lowan Park is now twice as big and more than twice as fun.
The
town’s youth group has led a project to overhaul the park. To do this, the group
oversaw the installation of a new basketball court, mini skate park, car bonnet
artwork and greenspace, complete with solar-powered lights and a rain water
tank.
Speaking at the opening, Murray Mallee Ward councillor Gary Norton
congratulated the Manangatang Youth Group on the project.
“I cannot praise
them enough for their hard work and dedication, and I think what they have
created speaks for itself,” Cr Norton said.
“The youth of Manangatang and
visitors, now have access to a space created specifically for young people by
young people.”
Swan Hill Rural City Council youth support co-ordinator Kane
Sparks said the youth group had been involved in every aspect of the project
from planning the design to researching costs.
“This was their project, the
youth group was involved in every decision, planning and construction phase of
the project, and the outcome is incredible,” Mr Sparks said.
