Council waives kiosk fees

AS A “special introductory offer”, Swan Hill Rural City Council will waive hire
fees for the new kiosk in the Swan Hill CBD until the end of October.

The new
community facility, which features a fully functional sink with cold and boiling
water on tap, a power outlet and automatic roller blinds, was unveiled at the
beginning of March.

Acting director of infrastructure Steve Matthews said the
council had decided to waive the minimal hire fee until October 31 as a gesture
of good will.

“It’s just to welcome it into the community and to make it more
available for people,” he said.

“This is something I think is fairly
exciting, let’s encourage people to use it.”

Mr Matthews said interest from
potential user groups had been strong so far, and added that council had
received a lot of positive feedback on the new facility.

“Community members
have said the structure looks fantastic and really fits in with the new look
CBD,” he said.

“We’ve also had a lot of comments around the fact the new
structure is safer for pedestrians as motorists can see through to the other
side.”

When hiring the facility users may be required to pay a $17 public
liability insurance fee (if applicable) and a $90 bond.

The bond is fully
refundable once the hire is complete and the facility is left undamaged and
clean.
