SWAN Hill Community Toy Library is holding an open day and promises new members fun-filled afternoons at a much reduced hit to parents’ hip pocket.
Located at Swan Hill Regional Library, the service allows parents to select a toy from thousands of games, puzzles, bikes, scooters, basketball hoops and more.
With toys available on loan for two weeks, committee members Natalie Clohesy and Kathleen Lawrence said the main benefit for parents was cost.
“It’s such a good resource, especially because toys are so expensive, you can just come in and borrow something,” Ms Lawrence said.
With kids often growing tired of toys quickly, Ms Clohesy said the borrowing service could also reduce waste and free up storage spaces around the house.
“Saturday mornings are always exciting in our house — the kids play with the toy for the weekend, and then they’re done,” she said.
