A NEW business opening in a town of about 500 people deserves a
celebration — and that’s exactly what the Nyah West Market Café
received.
Doors opened 10.30am on Saturday, where up to 250 people lapped up
the new offering.
Local post office master Frank Gadsden spoke a few words on
the history of the cafe and how the town had not had a cafe in two years.
His
rallying cry for ongoing support for the cafe was met with strong
applause.
Owner Debbie McManus said she had been “overwhelmed” by the support
from locals.
“We had three bunches of flowers, cards and the big traditional
red ribbon cutting,” she said.
“Even people that couldn’t make it have come
in and given me a hug and said ‘all the best’,” she said.
Ms McManus said in
the first 24 hours the shop went through 72 hamburger rolls and busy trading had
continued into this week.
