Flyover promotes tourism

THE Swan Hill region provided a picturesque backdrop as members of the NSW
Sports Aircraft Club took part in a flyover of the region on Saturday.

While
35 knot winds proved to be a challenge on the day, forcing some of the sea
planes to turn back, a number of planes were able to complete the journey,
landing on Lake Boga.

The event was part of a fly away organised by the NSW
Sports Aircraft Club, with land planes also touching down in Swan Hill.

Lake
Boga Lions club president David Mark said the event was a good opportunity to
entice visitors to the region.

“It’s really good to see sea planes flying in
and using Lake Boga,” he said.

“They have come down as a fly away for the
club to let the other club members see what it is like to fly waterborne
aircraft and to do a bit of bonding with people in the local community.”

The
lake is no stranger to sea planes, although the previous aircraft served a very
different purpose.

“It’s got that history coming back from the war, the boat
ramps they use are the boat ramps that were put in during the war and its
important to us that people in Lake Boga remember our history as well.”
