Art show displays hidden talents

IF THERE is a uniting theme from the Anglican Church’s 38th
Annual Art and Craft Show, it is that hidden talents are everywhere in the
community.

Feature artist and judge of the show Fiona Merlin, studied at
Angel Academy of Art in Florence and has held solo exhibitions in Mildura in
recent years — all alongside a career as a secondary school
principal.

Another featured artist, wife, mother and grandmother Cheryl
O’Bree runs a ‘Stamping it Up’ craft business alongside work in aged
care.

“It’s all local people and local work which I think makes it so
popular,” organiser Marg Crilly said.

Top prize in the art competition is a
Fiona Merlin work, kindly donated by the artist, and second prize is a $100
voucher for a local shoe store.

Ms Crilly said a People’s Choice award, a
school display and Sing Australia performance during the show would further
involve the local community.

“All paintings are available for sale,” Ms
Crilly said.

“Come along and be impressed by local talent.”
