MALLEE proved too strong for a younger Central Murray side to record a one-sided 82 point victory.
For Mallee, it was great to see some of the exciting young talent on show, with some fine skills and cohesive teamwork displayed.
Samuel Mead was awarded best on ground and along with captain Jackson Morrish and Toby Wilson he was prominent early in the game.
In the first quarter, the contest was even on the ground but Mallee came in at quarter time with a three goal advantage on the scoreboard.
The second term saw the Mallee boys start to assert themselves all over the ground against younger opposition, with the midfield leading the way.
It was good to see Sam White playing well at this level after an extended time out of the game with injury.
White was marking nearly everything that came his way up forward and ended the match with two goals.
As the game progressed, the margin between the two sides on the scoreboard started to grow as the team from the Mallee had winners all over the ground.
Paedon Monaghan and Tim Gloster were leading the way in defence for the Mallee.
After half time the Mallee side was shifted around with Gloster and Monaghan continuing their influence on the game in the forward line while White took over repelling the opposition attacks down back.
Mason McClelland, Jack Poulton and Tom Considine moved into the midfield.
By the end of the match, the older Mallee boys had stretched the margin to a convincing one with all 22 boys contributing around the ground.
To the Central Murray boys’ credit, they fought the game right out to the end and gave a good account of themselves.
