THE Bridge Position Action Committee has not given up on its fight in pursuit of
modified bridge option 4b, with evidence suggesting avenues are still open for
an alternative bridge to be built between Swan Hill and Murray Downs.
The
Guardian understands that a corridor of land in Murray Downs would allow for a
road to be built along the proposed 4b route.
Favoured by the lobby group,
the proposed 4b route would see a high flyover bridge crossing the Murray River
connecting traffic to the Victorian side of the Murray River near Pye
Street.
This differs greatly from the previously supported 9a option, which
would have seen an intermediate level liftspan bridge built upstream of the
existing, heritage listed, liftspan.
