Call for calm

POLICE are calling for calm in Nyah after an unconfirmed report of a man
wielding a firearm wandering the highway.

Police received the call about
6.40pm Wednesday, claiming a man had been wielding a long firearm, possibly a
shotgun, on the Murray Valley Highway at Nyah.

Swan Hill and Nyah police
attended the scene and as a precaution closed the highway to passing traffic
from Two Bays to Nyah Golf Course for about 10 minutes.

Nyah Police Acting
Sergeant Peter McNair said a full search of the town found no evidence of the
alleged incident.
