Shed happens

A MEN’S Shed in Lake Boga is becoming reality, with a meeting being held tonight
to seek members and discuss further funding opportunities.

A concrete slab
has already been laid at the rear of Lake Boga Bowling club, with the assistance
of about $21,000 from Swan Hill Rural City Council.

The grant will cover the
shed and utilities, but more support is required to fill the steel structure
with woodwork and metalwork machinery.

“We’ll be talking ((at the meeting
tonight)) about the way forward, how we can chase more funding for things like…
tools, benches and the like,” council engineering services manager Andrew Bruggy
said.

Building is hoped to be completed by September this year, with the aim
of improving the health and well-being of men in the area.

Prospective member
Barrie Free said despite the fact only about five men had declared an interest
so far, other men sheds had similarly humble origins.

“Nyah started with
five, then went to 35… there’s no limit, we’ll see how many we can get.”
