POLICE are urging Swan Hill region residents to lock their vehicles after a spate of thefts last week.
In Kerang Street, Lake Boga two unlocked vehicles — at the same address, one parked in a driveway and the other in a car port — were entered between Thursday and Friday night, where DVD players and loose change were taken.
Meanwhile, thieves struck a vehicle in Wilkins Grove, Swan Hill, between the same two nights.
Police said it was unknown whether anything had been stolen, but with a fuel cap removed and placed on the ground, it was suspected there had been an attempt to steal fuel.
And a burglary has occurred in Ford Street, Swan Hill, with an $8100 ‘Samsung smart’ TV stolen.
With the occupants away, the incident occurred between Wednesday, June 5, and last Friday.
Senior Sergeant Gary Hughes said unlocked vehicles were prime targets for theft, especially if valuable items are within view.
“For goodness sake be aware there are people out there during the night… be more vigilant about locking your cars,” Senior Sergeant Hughes said.
He said there was no evidence the Swan Hill and Lake Boga thefts were linked, but investigations were ongoing.
