Katter to back Cirillo at forum

Federal MP Bob Katter will “mingle” with the region’s farmers during a
whistle-stop tour of Sunraysia and the Mallee.

Mr Katter will be in the area
to support Katter’s Australian Party candidate for Mallee Vince Cirillo during
the Birchip Cropping Group’s federal election forum on July 4.

He will also
stop at Mildura and Ouyen during his two-day visit.

Mr Cirillo is set to
speak at the grains expo, along with other candidates, and said the party would
be highlighting key policies for the region.

Among these will be their
concerns for the deregulation of the wheat industry and a potential foreign
takeover of the GrainCorp receival network.

“It will highlight how much
importance [Mr Katter] places on the regions and how we need change in the
direction the region has been heading in the last few years,” he said.

More on this story in Monday’s edition of The Guardian (24/6/13).
