Never mind the bollards

LAKE Boga Inc believes the newly installed bollards around
the Lake Boga walking track have not only improved the aesthetics of the area
but have improved public safety.

While the bollards have been in the
spotlight in recent weeks, Lake Boga Inc president Cameron Smits said the
general community was grateful for the asset which was already being utilised by
the local community.

Mr Smits said the addition of the bollards provided
greater safety to those utilising the walking path as they provided a barrier
between the road and the lake.

“The bollards provide peace of mind,” Mr Smits
said.

“It’s a lot safer than it was 12 months ago.”

Mr Smits said in the
summer months hundreds of visitors flocked to the lake.

He said with the
combination of boats, cars, trailers and small children, the bollards would help
improve safety around the lake.

“They offer protection from the road,” he
said.

“It stops cars from driving right up to the lake.

“We can have cars
on this side of the bollards and people and children on the other side.”
