DESPITE a busy social calendar provided by Youth Inc, the Swan Hill Library and
Swan Hill District Health, some teenagers say they are struggling to keep
themselves entertained during the school holidays.
Swan Hill College students
Mikayla Zanker, 16, and Sebastian Graham, 17, have taken to hanging out at the
riverside when they are not at home.
“Laughing at the ducks,” Graham
said.
The teenagers said they enjoyed spending time at home drawing but came
up short when seeking alternative entertainment.
Asked what they would like
to see more of around town they agreed that a regular cinema, screening
permanently, would be ideal.
Youth Inc has created a number of events so far
over the July holiday, including the Red Rave on Friday, June 26 that saw an
impressive turn-out of 120 local young people.
The rave was held as a
fundraiser for Red Nose Day.
“That was really good. There were no dramas at
all,” Youth Inc coordinator Gaby Jones said.
