THE latest in farming innovation and technology was on display when the Speed
Lions Club opened its 35th annual Mallee Machinery Field Days
yesterday.
Organised by the local Lions Club, Mallee Machinery Field Days
president Peter Roberts said the opening day had been a huge success, with gate
takings alone, up five per cent on last year.
“At this stage we’re looking at
a record year,” Mr Roberts said.
“This year we have the biggest display of
new machinery we’ve ever had here.”
Mr Roberts said this could be attributed
to recent rainfall and an air of optimism among the Mallee farming
community.
“The crops are good and the grain prices are reasonable,” he
said.
“We’ve had great weather, a great crowd and exhibitors are at full
capacity.”
This year’s event also featured at least 30 new exhibitors.
