TWILIGHT will shine with lanterns of support around the nation throughout September, as people walk to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The foundation is encouraging residents of the Loddon Mallee to host a Light the Night event in their local area.
Now in its fifth year, the event raises money for the foundation so it can continue to fund research and support patients and families in their journey with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
Leukaemia Foundation marketing and communications manager for Victoria and Tasmania Jeanette Lyons-McKinnon said events could be as big or small as organisers desired.
“It is a celebration of people’s journey with blood cancer and the fact that they survived and are still here, or in remembrance of people who have died from blood cancer,” she said.
“Blue lanterns represent those people who have supported them through their journey, it is a very beautiful event.”
On the night, participants are given lanterns of blue, white or gold to carry on their walk.
