Stay off Splatt: Prospective new medical centre faces objections

A GROUP of Splatt Street residents are attempting to prevent the establishment of a new medical centre, currently undergoing planning approval.

A planning application to convert 92 Splatt Street into a single-GP service is currently undergoing Swan Hill Rural City Council’s assessment process.

But at least 30 objectors to the development — located opposite the street’s water tower and a Naturopath/Masseur service — gathered for a community meeting on Tuesday night at a nearby residence.

Concerned resident Sue Jennings said among those concerns raised on the night, was that council had only notified neighbouring residents, but not others in the street, nor the wider area.

“We feel unless people contact the councillors, they won’t know how strongly people feel about businesses being planned and built in the residential area,” she said.

“They’ve asked if we want a mediation meeting with the company, but we’re not going to back down.”
