Growers’ fly furore

GROWERS within the Greater Sunraysia pest free area (PFA) are at significant risk of losing potential export opportunities, according to Swan Hill Summerfruits Development Association president Michael Tripodi, ahead of a critical meeting in Swan Hill tonight.

The Greater Sunraysia PFA lies within the existing Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone (FFEZ) that includes parts of eastern South Australia, south western New South Wales and north western Victoria.

The PFA stretches from as far south as Kerang and Barham, encompassing Swan Hill, Robinvale, Euston and Mildura, also moving over the NSW border to Wentworth and up to Pooncarie.
