Ultima Tyntynder United Football
Cricket Club was left worse off after the severe weather front, with brand new
training nets damaged by falling trees.
The nets costing more than $15,000
were torn down in the wind and one will need to be replaced.
Ultima Tyntynder
President Andrew Abbott said it was an inconvenience so close to the beginning
of the cricket season.
“I think it was last month when [the new nets] were
open for us,” Mr Abbott said.
“We still had to put the net up across the top
and security fencing around it, they were the main two things still needing to
be done.”
Mr Abbott said one pole needed to be replaced, and those in
pre-season training will have to make do with just one net for the time
being.
“That’s our main problem, unfortunately until that’s done we can’t
re-establish the new net.”Hopefully it’ll be done within two weeks,
depending on getting a contractor, providing all goes well.”
