Comforting visitors

VOLUNTEERS at Swan Hill’s Care Centre believe the region is home to one of the
most unique tourist facilities in Australia.

The care centre, located on the
corner of McCallum and Beveridge Street, is a one-stop shop for visitors and
provides access to hot showers, a parent’s room and baby change
facilities.

While the centre is steeped in history, dating back to the 1920s,
the centre’s secretary Yvonne Parish said the facility continued to attract
thousands of visitors each year and had the potential to expand.

Ms Parish
said the centre was “very unique” and continued to provide a place of rest for a
diverse range of people including tourists, locals and truck drivers.

“There
isn’t anything like it anywhere else really,” Ms Parish said.
