THE highly anticipated summer event, Blak Cabaret, has been transformed into a
fundraiser in the wake of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan that destroyed
Filippino cities and caused thousands of deaths.
Blak Cabaret producers
Malthouse Theatre and the Swan Hill Rural City Council will donate all profits
from sales on the night to the Red Cross in aid of the crisis appeal.
On
Thursday morning, the death toll in the Philippines as a result of Typhoon
Haiyan had reached 5613, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (NDRRMC).
Tacloban City was the hardest hit, where 3310 of
the fatalities occurred.
Director of Performing Arts Adrian Corbett said when
the ramifications of the disaster became apparent, it was then simply a matter
of contacting those involved in Blak Cabaret and ask them for a favour.
