THE POSTURE and fitness of a group of locals has improved thanks to Swan Hill
District Health’s Nordic walking classes.
Running for six weeks, the group
had its final session on Monday which saw all members impressed with the results
they had achieved from partaking in the program.
Nordic walking group leader
Kathy Fitzmaurice said each of the individuals had “come a long way” since the
first session six weeks ago.
“The improvement has just been amazing,” she
said.
“Obviously practice makes perfect, but they have built quite a bit of
body strength.”
Ms Fitzmaurice said the benefits of the program were endless
with the exercise having the ability to improve posture, mobility and overall
fitness.
“It aids in 46 per cent of weight loss, gives a 20-25 per cent
better outcome than normal walking and uses 90 per cent of muscles,” she
said.
