Season deciders tonight

THE Swan Hill Basketball Association season winds up tonight with junior grand finals.

The under 16s deciders were played on Monday night to avoid a clash with a school camp which would have seen many players absent tonight.

In the boys’ decider Tigers downed Rebels 39-30, with Ben Maher top scoring for the winners with 14 and Jose Miliado scoring 16 for the runners-up.

The girls’ match saw Saints prevail over Tigers 36-32, with Skye Nedanoski top-scoring for the premiers with 17 and Jaya Blandthorn managing 23 for the defeated side.

THE night starts at 6pm with Rebels and Saints clashing in the under 12 boys competition.

The Saints only just scraped through their preliminary final, overcoming Speewa 40-39 with a strong contribution by Nyawi Moore (35 points).

Tanner Lewis’ shooting and rebounding is considered important to the Rebels chances of glory, after he shot 28 of his side’s 40 points in their winning second semi-final against Speewa.

Under 12 girls — Rebels v Tigers @ 6pm

IN THE under 12 girls’ decider, Tigers will take on Rebels.

Tigers had a hard fought win over Speewa in the preliminary final, winning 23-22, with Brontie Ridley top scoring with 10.

Under 19 girls — Rebels v Fireflies @ 7pm

REBELS and Fireflies will fight out the under 19 girls decider from 7pm.

It is an appropriate match-up given they finished first and second on the ladder respectively.

Phoebe Bett’s shooting — with the assistance of Katie Foott — will help the Rebels, while the Fireflies will look to Elvie Kelly-Britten’s dynamic play to get them over the line.

Under 14 boys — Tigers v Saints @ 7pm

AFTER dropping only two games for the season, Tigers will go in favourites against Saints.

Tigers will also be confident after an 11 point win over Saints in the second semi-final, which forced the Saints to bounce back in the preliminary final against Rebels.

The Tigers will be led by Isaiah Bull and Callum Robinson-Hore.

The Saints faced a tough preliminary final, going into overtime to decide a winner. They will look to Angus Monkn and Oscar Lewis to help them succeed in the decider.

Under 19 boys — Speewa v Tigers @ 8pm

SPEEWA will be the favourites in this match, after dropping only two games for the season.

Tom Spicer and Tom Gilbert will provide them with the scoring power needed to win.

Their opponents, Tigers secured their spot in the grand final with a thrilling two-point win over Trotters in the preliminary final.

Mitch Makepeace and Lochie Gardiner are expected to be the playmakers for Tigers.

Under 14 girls — Tigers v Speewa @ 8pm

IN WHAT was a pretty even season in under 14 girls, Speewa has found a spot in the final after finishing fourth on the ladder.

Taylah Simpson’s shooting contributed to their six point preliminary final win.

Top-placed Tigers will be looking for scoring action from Sophie Brumby and Meg Hogan.
