Demons too strong

Demons d Lakers

OUYEN United proved too strong for Jeparit Rainbow when the sides met at Rainbow on Saturday.

Unlike the match before, where Jeparit Rainbow side dominated all of the first quarter play, the Lakers were not able to get off to the start they wanted.

Ouyen was quick out of the blocks with a five-goal first term and was miserly in defence to hold the Lakers to one goal.

The second quarter saw the game open up and Jeparit Rainbow was able to work its way back into the contest, reducing the deficit at halftime to 17 points.

The Demons showed the benefits of a long pre-season campaign in the third quarter, as they moved the ball quickly and cleanly with the wind, and piled on seven goals to one.

Jeparit Rainbow battled hard in the final quarter and was able to reduce the margin. But at the final siren a solid 41-point victory went Ouyen’s way.

Marcus Healy kicked another bag for the Demons, scoring five majors, while Bradley Vallance and Laurence Angwin booted three each.

Andrew Jardine was best on ground for Ouyen United, and Henry Armour and Bradley Summerhayes were also in the best.

For Jeparit Rainbow, Brodie Grant played well up forward on a tough day, kicking three goals.

Elliot Bath slotted two goals and was best on ground for the Lakers, along with Luke Werner and Tyler Edelsten.

Cats d Devils

WOOMELANG Lascelles hosted neighbours Hopetoun, with the Devils’ season resuming after a fortnight off.

Hopetoun didn’t muck around with the footy in the first quarter, playing a quick and direct brand of football that saw them get the jump on their opposition and take an 18-point lead after the first siren.

Woomelang Lascelles showed that it is a classy side, fighting back with the wind and adding eight goals to take a 26-point lead into the halftime break.

The third term was all Hopetoun’s as the Devils willed themselves back into the contest and were only trailing by eight points as the game entered the final quarter.

Woomelang Lascelles took control of the match though, running out the game well and recording a 37-point victory.

Jayden Lonergan was again a good target for the Cats up forward, kicking five goals.

Jeremy Phelan also kicked four and Corey Kelly three for Woomelang Lascelles.

Joshua Ratcliffe was best on for the Cats, along with Nyaburu Kelly and Anthony Foott.

Lucas Cook moved forward and kicked five goals for the Devils, while Simon Cook, Coleman Schache, and Ben Webster kicked two each.

Coleman Schache was a handy addition and was Hopetoun’s best along with Liam Price and Jackson Fisher.
