Local riders excel

NINE Swan Hill Motorcycle Club juniors were among the riders competing for championship points when round two of the Victorian junior championship was staged at Chisholm Reserve at the weekend.

Mackenzie O’Bree was the pick of the locals riding into second place in his class, while Declan McCosh competed in his first Victorian title in A grade.

Swan Hill is the local club for Kerang rider Joe Reed who was top three in all of his classes for the weekend.

Brothers Hayden and Ruben Noles continue to impress in their classes and are both in the top 10 for the series.

Hayden competes in the 125cc class while Ruben rides in the 85cc small-wheel C grade.

With 294 competitors, club president Dean Rickard said the event always brought significant numbers of people to town.

And he said they were cueing up to get into the venue from before the gates opened at 2pm last Friday.

“We had some top level riders there and they rode really well,” he said.

The next major event hosted by the club will be the sixth round of the Australian Motocross Championships on June 29.
