No sign of naked yogi

RELATED STORY: Search for naked yogi

POLICE say there have been no further sightings of Pental Island’s naked yogi.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, sparked a flurry of complaints to Swan Hill police early last month after he was spotted on several occasions doing yoga by a tree on the side of an unnamed dirt road just off Pental Island Road.

Detective Senior Constable Adrian Gordon said police had carried out regular patrols of the road, which was part of a school bus route, but the cheeky offender had not been spotted since.

He said it was unknown whether the man was a local — but it was obvious the man had spent a lot of time by the tree.

“There were quite a few sightings before it was reported to us,” he said.

“It’s quite obvious he spent a lot of time there.”

The naked yogi could face criminal charges for his actions including offensive behaviour and obscene exposure.

Anyone with any information should call Swan Hill Police Station on 5036 1600.

Fake police

SWAN Hill police say there is no cause for alarm over a claim on Facebook that a motorist has been attempting to intercept female drivers in a fake unmarked police car.

The post, made by a woman on a Swan Hill buy/swap/sell page last Tuesday night, urged all women not to pull over for an unmarked police car after she was followed along a Coronation Street by a dark Holden Commodore with “fake police lights” in the back.

“They high beamed me to pull over — I didn’t. I kept driving to get home… they continued to follow me until I turned into my street which is when they did a u-turn and got away as quick as possible”.

She went on to say when she reported the incident to the police, she was told it was the second report they had received that night and that she should inform all her female friends.

However, Sergeant Les McPhee said police had no record of such reports and residents should not be alarmed.

“This is unsubstantiated at this stage, but we are taking it seriously,” he said.

“If anyone suspects someone of putting people at risk by imitating police, they should let us know.”

The post was deleted from Facebook on Wednesday.
