Hard work rewarded

EARLY morning training sessions paid off for Harliai Curthoys-Davies at the Victorian Short Course Swimming Championships held last weekend in Melbourne.

The 11-year-old collected a state championship silver and a bronze medal competing against the very best of the state’s swimming talent.

Curthoys-Davies produced a personal best time to narrowly miss the state 100m backstroke championship title and impressed again with a strong third-placed performance in the 200m backstroke event with another PB.

The young gun also managed a close-up fourth place in the 100m freestyle, and rounded off her successful weekend of championship swimming with top eight finishes in the 50m and 200m freestyle events.

Curthoys-Davies will now set her sights on the Victorian Country Short Course Championships to be held in Shepparton on August 16 and 17.
