Swans fine tune ahead of finals

SWAN Hill is in red hot form just two weeks out of the finals, delivering yet another scorching performance in the Central Murray Football Netball League.

Defeating Nyah Nyah West United 50-27, the Swans are now equal on 56 points with Woorinen at the top of the ladder.

While the Swans and United ended the first quarter equal on 11 goals, the Swans dominated the second quarter, powering ahead by 15 goals.

“That was the turning point for us and the girls performed really well for the rest of the game — we just had to lift our workload and intensity,” Swans coach Madeleine Foott said.

“Full credit to Nyah — they came out really strongly.”

While well and truly guaranteed a spot in the final five, the Swans, which have a bye this week, will have to take on top-placed Woorinen first.

“It’s a tough game going into the finals,” Foott said. “But that’s what it’s all about — we’re just going to have to work hard and play consistent netball.”

Meanwhile, United looks to be out of contention for the finals following their loss to the Swans and this week’s game against first placed Woorinen.
